The 925 sterling silver structure was created using the lost-wax technique. The face is carved from a Tagua nut (also called vegetal ivory or corozo).

Used in particular by Japanese miniature sculptors in the 19th century to make the famous “Netsuke” (small figurines adorning kimonos), this organic material, once dry, takes on the hardness and color of ivory, while remaining lighter than it. The Calliope pendant, though inspired by SF imagery, also inherits the long history of ornamental sculpture.

In the manner of Ecuadorian sculptors, the face has been painted with Chinese ink and covered with a layer of crystal resin to protect it from possible friction and shocks.

It can be cleaned with a slighly damp cotton cloth.
